We met as teenagers, but truthfully, neither one of us remembers the exact moment.  It wasn't until our final year of high school that our paths really intertwined. Melissa had caught a bad case of pink eye, and Robert offered to skip class to keep her company at the walk-in clinic. Somehow, that unglamorous event turned into the beginning of our story.

Like most teenage romances, ours was not linear. After a few early sparks and a stretch of time apart, we reconnected in college. We had a slow build of friendship, lots of movie dates and long nights on the phone then finally we made it official on April 16, 2013.

Since then, we have grown through a dozen of years of life side by side - supporting each other through life's challenges, celebrating countless milestones and becoming stronger, more grounded versions of ourselves in the process. We built a safe home together, adopted our sweet dog, Nellie, travelled and learned what is truly means to show up for one another.

During Labour Day weekend 2023, we took a trip to Chicago, where Robert proposed during a quiet ride down the river in a tiny pink boat. It was heartfelt, thoughtful and a memorable day we couldn't wait to share with each of you.

 

Getting married has encouraged us to look back at our beautiful journey together and recognize it's been full of joy, growth, and deep love. We are so grateful to have found each other in this lifetime.  We can't wait to celebrate our marriage with all of the people who have loved and supported us along the way.
